Many assumed Lily Allen was waxing lyrical when she proclaimed she was ‘retiring’ from the music biz last year – but it seems the cheeky pop starlet is making good on her promise, and making a TV show about it!

The ‘Not Fair’ singer has allegedly signed on for a new reality series that will document the launch of her new record label and the opening of her designer “clothes hire” store with her sister called ‘Lucy in Disguise’.

With camera crews following her 24-7, the show is set to record her move from “singer to shopkeeper” to see how well she adjusts to the dramatic lifestyle change. The show will also document the launch of her record label.

An insider said:

"Lily was approached about the TV show and thought it would help promote her new ventures as well as letting people get to know her a bit better."

This isn’t Lil’s first foray into telly; last year she filmed a chat show with BBC3 called ‘Lily and Friends’. Unfortunately for the sassy starlet, the show bombed with terrible reviews and was axed after only one season.

But despite reports, Lil’s insists she’s not retiring, but just looking for a change in pace so she can make babies!

She said: “People don't buy music anymore, they download it and want their content for free - the thing that makes you your money is touring and I don't really want to tie myself down to being on the road for three years. I've got a boyfriend and I've got a house and I'd quite like to have children soon. So it doesn't really work into those plans."

"It's not retiring. I'm just doing a different job for a bit. I'm having a career change. I just want to stay in London for a while. It's not a particularly healthy lifestyle being on the road."

She's not done with music just yet though, the singer will be performing with Jay-Z at this summer's Wireless gigs in London on July 4.

She said: "I was very flattered to hear that Jay-Z wanted me to support him at Wireless and, combined with my dates in March with DIZZEE RASCAL, I am excited to end my current string of live shows in such prestigious company."
