He has matched the number of consecutive weeks on the chart as 'Sailing Away,' the All of Us America's Cup inspired song and if he makes it another week he will be hot on the tale of current record holders, Smashproof.
Smashproof broke the 23-year-old record last year with their song 'Brother' which managed an impressive 11 weeks at number one on the chart. 'Sailing Away' was released in 1986 but we may not have to wait that long if Walker can keep up the momentum.
This week also sees the New Zealand-born Aussie Idol spend his seventh week at number one on the airplay chart. It's going to be interesting to see how much longer Walker can hold off stiff competition from the likes of Iyaz, Jason DeRulo and Timbaland and Katy Perry on the singles chart.
The star came to everyone's attention when he won the Australian Idol competition late last year. Interestingly enough, he never made it to number one in Australia. 'Black Box' peaked at number two after Walker won the contest but the track failed to capitalise on his success.
